jan 1, 1932 - The Completion of the Narkomfin Building - A Constructivist Movement
Description:
The Narkomfin Building was designed by the Russian architects Moisei Ginzburg and Ignaty Milinis, and was constructed from 1928 to 1932 in Moscow, Russia. The Narkomfin Building was an experimental housing project meant to test Ginzburg’s theories of collective living; in simple terms, a social condenser. As a result, it offers many communal facilities like laundry, kitchens, and even a nursery to promote the socialist way of life. The concept of this building has influenced prominent architects, most notably Le Corbusier. However, the building fell out of favour from the public almost instantly after its completion due to its collectivist ideas being rejected.
