jan 1, 1979 - The Completion of the Genex Tower - A Brutalist Structure
Description:
The Western City Gate - also known as the Genex Tower - was designed by the Serbian architect Mihajlo Mitrovic, and was constructed from 1977 to 1979 in Belgrade, Serbia. The Genex Tower is the second tallest building in Belgrade, with a height of 117 metres. The building is particularly interesting because of its non-symmetrical shape, with one tower being higher than the other, and also with a revolving restaurant between the skybridge and the shorter tower. As for the materials, this building is mostly constructed from concrete and glass, the Brutalist essentials. In conclusion, the Genex Tower looks rather aesthetically pleasing despite its peculiarities.
