jan 1, 1970 - The Completion of the Geisel Library - A Brutalist Structure
Description:
The Geisel Library was designed by William Pereira, an American architect who is widely known for his design of the Transamerica Pyramid, which is one of the most controversial structures in modern architecture. The Geisel Library was built from 1968 to 1970 in the University of California. The only materials used for the construction was raw concrete and glass, but what makes this building unique is the diagonal concrete support beams that jut out at all sides of the building, and the floor-to-ceiling windows which make it look like something out of a sci-fi movie.
