jan 1, 1921 - The Completion of the Einstein Tower - An Expressionist Structure
Description:
The Einstein Tower was designed by the German architect Erich Mendelsohn, who was a prominent Expressionist architect. It was built from 1919 to 1921, situated in Potsdam, Germany. The building itself serves as a solar observatory, and was built from cement-covered brick. Its many curves and strange edges give a notion of some sort of organism, the reason being that it was built to contemplate Einstein’s Theory of Relativity, which completely changed the way people viewed space and time. Another fact to consider about this building is that it looks shockingly modern for a century-old building.
