jan 1, 1924 - The Completion of the Chilehaus - An Expressionist Structure
Description:
The Chilehaus was designed by a German architect called Fritz Höger, and was built from 1922 to 1924, located in Hamburg, Germany. It’s an enormous ten-story office building that occupies 6,000m² of space and is also a landmark structure. The Chilehaus is constructed from heavily reinforced concrete and brick, as was the standard in the early 1900s. The building’s most notable component is its top - a convergence of the building’s parallel sides into a sharp tip - which is reminiscent of a Viking ship’s bow.
