jun 28, 1821 - 1821: Benjamin Lundy establishes the first American anti-slavery newspaper, The Genius of Universal Emancipation. From September 1829 until March 1830, William Lloyd Garrison assists the paper. In 1836 Lundy establishes and another anti-slavery weekly in Philadelphia, The National Enquirer.
