aug 10, 1628 - The Sinking of The Vasa

Description:

The Vasa was a massive warship that was constructed in Stockholm from 1626 to 1628. The warship was ordered by Gustavus Adolphus, and was meant to display the wealth and prosperity of the up and coming Swedish Empire. However, shortly after being finished, the Vasa capsized after sailing about 400 yards. The ship was recovered in 1961, and is now on display in the Vasa Museum in Stockholm.
