dec 1, 1885 - Chinese Immigrant Act passed

Description:

The Government of Canada passed the Chinese Immigrant Act. The Act was meant to restrict Chinese immigrants coming to Canada by placing a $50 head tax on them. The head tax had to be paid to enter the country. After the Canadian Pacific Railway was finished, there was no more need for Chinese labour workers.
