nov 7, 1885 - Canadian Pacific Railway finished
Description:
The Canadian Pacific Railway was finished and the “last spike” was hammered in at Craigellachie, British Columbia. Most of the 15,000 labour workers from China died during its construction, which began in 1881. The railway also travelled through the Northwest, upsetting the Indigenous peoples living in the area. Most Indigenous communities are situated in the Northwest, and they had no say or control over where the railroad was.
