Description:

Treaty No. 3, also known as the North-West Angle Treaty, was signed. The federal government was given access to Salteaux lands and the First Nations were given goods and the rights to fishing, hunting, and natural resources on reserves. The Salteaux lands were what is northwestern Ontario and eastern Manitoba nowadays. The government was making a road and waterway from Lower Fort Garry, and they had planned to go through the Salteaux lands.
