Gold is found at Thompson River in the Fraser Canyon, British Columbia. The Fraser Canyon Gold Rush begins as miners arrive from California. Over 30,000 miners flooded to the area in search of gold, worth nearly $1000 CAD per troy ounce. However, this event negatively impacted the Indigenous people in the area and created the Fraser Canyon War.
