The Gutenberg Bible was one of the first books to be majorly produced on the printing press. The Gutenberg Bible was written by Johannes Gutenberg, a German printer and publisher, Originally written in Latin, it was the second version of another bible called the Vulgate. It was so popular that it sold out immediately, with customers all the way in England, Sweden and Hungary. It was praised for its aesthetic and artistic qualities, as well as being one of the first officially-printed major documents. The printing of the Bible helped to spread literacy and religion throughout Europe.
