Description:

The Petition of Right is a major constitutional document that describes the rights that the King cannot infringe upon. It set restrictions on non-Parliamentary taxation, forced billeting of soldiers, imprisonment without a cause, and the use of martial law. It was a major document for the time period, as it was one of the first to set such rules and boundaries restricting a King and his rule.
