Facebook first gained noteriety on it's website, but the popularity of the website led to the launch of the app in 2007, allowing people to access it on the go. Facebook is an important platform because it was one of the first social media platforms of it's kind. Although it was similar to platforms like myspace, it quickly gained more users because it allowed businesses to promote their material as well as allowing users to use it for entertainment.
