Sylvia: "I wanted an Evelyn, not a Warren." This is a sort of existential crisis, she believed before that she had enjoyed a "beautiful fusion," with the world, but now she doesn't feel special anymore. Whenever Aurelia tries to breast Warren, Sylvia tries to crawl into her lap. Aurelia claims it's lucky that around this time she discovers the alphabet from capital letters on cereal letters, which presumably keeps her occupied. She will resent him later, simply for his maleness, and the freedom it provides him in how he wishes to shape his life and the conventions he doesn't have to follow.
