Description:
- Entitled all children up to the age of 15 to free education
- Idea of the system introduced the tripartite system - children would be tested and placed into school based on their ability.
- Grammar schools: Academic ability 20%
- Secondary Modern: Everyone in between 75%
- Secondary Technical: 5%
- Concept was good however criticisms - only tested academic ability, a lack of technical meant only really two types, reproduced class division, if middle class failed they could pay their way into grammar.
