jan 1, 1596 - Rene Descartes is born.

Description:

Rene Descartes is notoriously known for being the “Father of Modern Philosophy.” Descartes is known for making a critical connection between geometry and algebra (Smith). He is also known for promoting a new conception of matter that accounts for the physical phenomena by way of mechanical explanations (Smith). But his most famous work that has contributed to philosophy is his published book “Meditations on a First Philosophy.” In His book, Descartes explains that to come to the conclusion that he is definite he needs to dismiss all defective theories and adapt to using his mind only. He merely disconnects his body from his mind because the body cannot understand the senses and his mind understands it clearly. Descartes believed that thinking is necessarily a way for the soul to speak since they are both inanimate things. In theory, without the mind and consciousness, he is not living; even though he is physically.
