A lot of the achievements of China were in the Han dynasty. It was during the Han period that contact with the West through the Silk Road was first established. Chinese borders were expanded to include Vietnam and North Korea, making the Han dynasty the largest empire to date. the Han Empire's institutions were destroyed by the warlord Dong Zhuo, and fractured into regional regimes ruled by various warlords, some of whom were nobles and officials of the Han imperial court.
