It was signed by Congress after the initial date that the Second Continental Congress adopted this resolution. Its principal author was Thomas Jefferson who took many ideas from John Locke’s theory of revolution. This document changed the way many viewed absolute monarchy for this declaration stated how every man has unassailable rights and are created equal and every man has the freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
