Description:

Senator Eugene Debs wins a plurality in the electoral college, but not a majority, throwing the election to Congress. With the House dominated by the Socialists and the Senate dominated by the Republicans, it is generally presumed that Debs will become the next President, but with Theodore Roosevelt as his Vice-President. Roosevelt leaves Washington for New York to meet with Debs.
