In 1938, the Japanese invaded China, most of China was already occupied by the Japanese forces, which included the Guangdong province,which is also to the north of Hong Kong. While refugees were fleeing the Japanese occupied areas which push Hong Kong’s population by about 1.5 million people.
On December 7, 1941, right after the Japanese forces attacked the Pearl Harbor, Great Britain , also an ally of the United States was now officially in a war with the Japanese. After a few hours from the pearl harbor attack the Japanese went to attack Hong Kong from the north side. Allied forces with Hong Kong (Kowloon and New territories) went to Hong Kong island.
