jun 6, 2007 - Alteration of Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act; 2007

Description:

The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act was altered in June of 2007. The act, although never passed, became a very controversial and ideal-altering act. The acts purpose was to create more provisions that satisfied both supporters and opponents of immigration policies; only the act was rejected because due to the harsh lash back it received. It was very opposed of because there were strong disagreements with the provisions: an addition of 20,000 border patrol agents, addition of technology on the borders to detect illegal crossings, a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants, and the end of chain migrations. Some of these provisions were appealing to some but very much the opposite too others. The CIRA Act of 2006 remained unchanged because the CIRA Act of 2007 was considered a failure that was rightly rejected.
