Established Turkic tribe armies to reconquer the Middle East after the Mongol Invasions and rule. Converts to Sufi Islam due to shaykh charisma, miracles, and superstitions. Exemplifies new and heretical ideas about Islamic rule and Islamic rulers by promoting magical and heretical ideas. Claims "divine kingship" as he never loses a single battle, and ultimately tried to appeal to Mongols and Turkic newcomers to the Middle East with a charismatic military leadership. Takes title of Guregen or "son in law," as he marries into the Mongol line for legitimacy. Begins his conquest in the Chagatay Khanate, another Mongol-controlled area in Central Asia. Builds new capital for empire at Samarqand in Uzbekistan. Is viewed by followers as saintly or divine. Because he claims divinity, holds ghulat/ghuluww views, or views that are extreme and heretical. Is referred to as "Sahib Qiran," or the Lord of the Conjunction, as it is seen that his rule was the outcome of the stars aligning. Claimed relations to Ali.
