jun 14, 1227 - Death of Chinggis Khan
Description:
Chinggis (Genghis) Khan was the leader of the Mongol Horde during their period of greatest expansion, including their forays into the Middle East. Crowned, like all Mongol leaders, at a quriltai, or convention of male elders to choose the next Mongol leader. Has a recruitment system with two tiers -- Anda and Noker. Anda are "sworn brothers" of the Mongols, and are seen as completely loyal. The Noker are recruited or defeated enemies of the Mongols that are clients of the Horde, and are given the option to join or die at their initial surrender. Runs the Yasa system, or Mongol law that makes all able men 7-70 serve in the military, meets all resistance to the Mongol rule with death, and bans adultery, false witness, litter, etc to maximize efficiency.
