Without any prior notice, McLeodGaming had its first YouTube Premiere in early May to showcase a trailer revealing a resprite for Sora. Other information revealed includes Riku as an Assist Trophy, Giga Bowser and Mega Legends as Final Smashes, the design of Waluigi's legs, and a teaser for the improved costumes that would be fully revealed later. The trailer was met with glowing praise and McLeodGaming would continue to do YouTube Premieres for its trailers.Notably, this is the first instance where "SSF2 Team" was officially used to refer to the development team behind the game, and it is the first instance of its logo being showcased.
