During the first two years of the war, the US remained neutral, although it supplied Allied forces through the Lend Lease program. However, after Japan bombed the naval port of Pearl Harbor, the US officially declared war. The US suffered over 400,00 casualties. Another half million plus were injured. The US struggled to fight a war on two fronts: the Pacific and across Europe. During the war American women entered the workforce like never before. After the war with the return of soldiers, America experienced a lot of economic growth. Women did not really remain in the workforce .
