The Great War started between Austria-Hungary and Serbia. After the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand from Austria-Hungary. Meanwhile, Britain, France, and Germany had been in a few arguments over markets in Africa. Germany declared war on Britain, then France. There were also disagreements in Europe over territory and boundaries. This resulted in more conflict and aiding in fighting. Each side
found themselves calling for support from allies and in return pulled several countries into the fight. In 1918 the war finally ended. It had claimed from 9 million to 13 million lives worldwide. Germany surrendered on November 11th, 1918. Germany had ultimately lost the war. On June 28th, 1919, Germany and all the other Nations signed the Treaty of Versailles (a treaty in which put restrictions on Germany). The Treaty of Versailles put restrictions and imposed territorial, military, and economic provisions on Germany. This helped ease into World War II.
