dec 2, 1955 - Montgomery Bus Boycott (see description)

Description:

In the State of Alabama, during the winter of 1955, the activist and secretary of the NAACP Rosa Parks decided to make a decision that would influence millions of people on the cause of the Civil Rights Movment: she refused to let go of her bus seat to a white man, and was arrested for it. On the day of Rosa’s trial, the 5th of December 1955, an all-day bus boycott was organized. She was unfortunately found guilty and had to pay an amount of 14 dollars. The bus boycott lasted for 381 days, which meant that people were moving through taxis, firends' cars and even by foot. She then became the role model of courage and the face of racial injustice. She was a true activist, through her elegant eloquence, her commitment and her faith. She always fought, risked or sacrificed anything, even herself, for what she thought was right and fair. 2 years later, in 1956, the efforts of Rosa and the boycott finally paid off and marked history. The Supreme Court, by 9 votes to 0, supported the side of the Civil rights Movement, symbolizing the start of the end of racial segregation and centuries of torture for the African Americans.
