jan 1, 1794 - - Eli Whitney was born in Westboro, Massachusetts in 1765 - In 1794, Eli perfected his cotton gin machine and secured a patent for it. - Eli's cotton gin helped those who worked with cotton during the Industrial Revolution to easily separate cotton seeds from cotton fibre, greatly reducing the time it takes to clean cotton and thus helping people make more money - Although fixing cotton cultivation, Whitney has been credited to have institutionalised slavery with this invention
