Paul Villard discovered gamma particles while studying radiation emitted from Radium salts, The radiation escaped a shielded container that has a thin layer of lead that was known to stop alpha particles. Gamma particles kill bacteria and are used to sterilise food, so it stays fresh slinger and to sterilise medical equipment. The picture above shows medical equipment being sterilized by The Gamma irradiation Process, This process ensures total safety. Gamma particles are also used to kill cancer cells without needing a difficult surgery, radiotherapy is important as the cancer cells that were damaged can't heal back but the healthy cells that were damaged can heal back to normal. Gamma partilces are produced when radioative elements do where was alpha and beta are when a nuclea has too many nuetrons or protons or is unstable/
