jan 7, 1759 - After months of siege, the French meet the British in open battle, which they lose badly

Description:

After finally landing on the north shore of the St. Lawrence by traveling further upriver than the French entrenchments, the British army was able to threaten the supply lines with Montreal of the French defenders in Quebec City. This forced the French to engage the British in open battle, which they decisively lost, subsequently abandoning Quebec City, the last French fortification of any worth.
