jan 11, 960 - Footbinding
Description:
Footbinding was a Chinese practice brought in by the neo-confucianists where women had to tightly bind their fight to make them smaller. Doing this made the women's feet mutilated and they were often incapable of walking without severe pain. This was important because it forced women to stay at home and it showed the male dominance over women.
