jan 2, 1919 - Ernest Rutherford - part 2
Description:
The discovery of Alpha and Beta particles, Gamma rays and decay chains.
Rutherford is known as the father of nuclear physics discovering Alpha, Beta particles and Gamma rays. Rutherford was also able to observe when radioactive elements underwent a process of decay over time which varied from element to element. In 1919, Rutherford used alpha particles to transmute Oxygen into Nitrogen. It was known as the "Splitting of the atom."
