Therapeutic use of radioisotopes is intended to destroy targeted cells. Isotopes are commonly used in medical imaging and cancer treatment, radioisotopes typically have short half-lives and can decay before the emitted radioactivity can cause damage to the patients' body. Isoptopes are atoms that have the saem numbers of protons but different numbers of neutrons.
