Description:

This act allowed all White men between ages twenty and forty-five to be drafted. This caused a bit of an uproar, as many White people that had the money bribed doctors for medical excuses not to join, or legally bought substitutes that would enter for them. The lower class disliked this, and thought it was unfair that they were forced to fight for the freedom of African Americans.
