Hong Kong was set up for a base for the British empire to get opium into Canton. They used It for refuge. It started in 1841. Typhoon hit Hong Kong in the south west because the British made their base in central which makes the typhoon hit the coast of Hong Kong.There was a disease before in Hong Kong called malaria dysentery cholera and dengue fever.
