Description:

Senator Cass was nominated and pledged popular sovereignty in Democractic Party. The Whigs nominated Zachary Taylor. The Free Soil Party, a third party nominated Martin Van Buren which was a former president. The party threatened to destroy the Democractic party were ridiculed and against slavery. Taylor won the election, in a close vote to Cash.
