dec 28, 1835 - Election of 1836
Description:
Andrew Jackson got the Democratic party to nominate his vice president Martin Van Buren. The Whigs were scared for Van Buren was a "master of practical politics" and nominated 3 candidates each from a different region so they vote would be taken to the House of Representatives.
