The Tennis Court Oath was the meeting an swearing of the 3rd estate that they are "not to separate and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established". The oath took place in order to swear allegiance to the National Assembly, and to produce a constitution. It soon led to the storming of the Bastille.
