nov 3, 1804 - Election of 1804

Description:

In 1804, Jefferson received all but 14 of the 176 electoral votes, winning him reelection by a landslide. However, his second term was plagued by growing hardships. His former vice-president, Aaron Burr embarked on a series of ventures that threaten to break up the Union and even resulted in the death of Alexander Hamilton. Jefferson also received opposition by a faction of his own party, the Quids, who accused him of forsaking Democratic-Republican values. Additionally, Jefferson's presidency was marked by foreign troubles caused by the Napoleonic wars in Europe.
