Defeat of Etruscan King Tarquin the Proud
509 BCE
Description:
In this year, the last Etruscan king, Lucius Tarquinius Superbus (Tarquin the Proud) was exiled after his son Sextus raped Lucretia, wife of Lucius Tarquinius Collatinus, great-nephew of Tarquinius Pricus (father or grandfather of Tarquin the Proud). Tarquin the Proud was also known as a cruel tyrant, unlike the previous six benevolent kings.
