This took place on July 14 and it was the storming of the medieval armoury, fortress and political prison also known as the Bastille. This was seen by people as a revolutionary symbol of monarchy and abuse of political power. during the time of the attack there were only seven prisoners being housed in the prison and all the other prisoners were transferred ten days earlier.
