Description:

"One of his first acts [as superintendent] was a proposal to found a journal of education, which should be a semi-official means of communication between the Superintendent on the one hand and District Superintendents, Trustees, Municipal Councilors, and teachers on the other." (Putman, 2010, Chapter 1, para. 36)

This journal was one of the contributions Ryerson made toward the improvement of the teaching profession in Upper Canada.
