1901, Montesano married another woman, leaving Montessori heartbroken and betrayed.
Montessori left the school, and turned her attention to educating all of Italy’s children. Montessori threw herself into her work. She continued to practice as a doctor, studied anthropology and psychology and within 3 years, was made a professor of anthropology. She continued to study child development, and was determined to better the lives of the children in Italy.
