jan 1, 100 - 2 and 3 John
Description:
Composed by the same figure, calling himself "the elder" (Gk. presbyteros), both 2 and 3 John pick up ideas from the John tradition, and communicate issues about community boundaries and false teachers.
It seems that 3 John was composed first (least concerned with community divisions, most "ethnically Jewish"), followed by 2 John, and finally 1 John. The author of the Johannine epistles is unlikely to be the same author(s) of the Gospel of John.
