UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR TEST
Description:
For the first time ever, North Korea conducts a nuclear test, underground. The estimated yield from differed from country to country, however the yield ranged from 1 to 15 kilotons.
The Koreans claim that the test was a response to the "US Nuclear threat, sanctions and pressure" and that it "was compelled to substantially prove its possession of nukes to protect its sovereignty.”
