Jack's life during this time is described in many different ways; he's described as a rambunctious youth, a humble, salt-of-the-earth farmer's son, or he could be both.He spends his time working on the farm, and after work, he relaxes with his friends at the local ice cream shop.
At some point, his mother takes him to New York. There, he visits a museum, which becomes his favorite part of the trip. Part of the visit involves running around the transplanted ruins of an ancient Egyptian temple.
At some point, Jack begins a relationship with Vincent.
