Description:

George F. Kennan sent an 8,000 cable to the US State Department urging the US to take a containment strategy. One year later, he published a Foreign Affairs Article. He stated that containment would work if the Allies would oppose the expansion of the Soviets in all parts of the world. Stalin obtained a copy of Kennan's cable, which was supposed to be confidential. He believed the US wanted to replace Britain as the dominant capitalist power. Fear was building up on both sides.
