jun 23, 1982 - Murder of Vincent Chin

Description:

Two white men beat and killed Vincent Chin with a baseball bat at a bar because of the two men's hatred toward Asians. their hatred was born from their idea that Asians were stealing their jobs and putting them out of work, so to go against that, they killed Vincent Chin, who was an Asian-American. The two men were forced to pay a fine but no sentences were given to them.
30 years later, Ronald Ebens, one of Vincent Chin's killers, apologizes in a statement from www.aaldef.org, "On the phone, Ebens, a retired auto worker, said killing Chin was 'the only wrong thing I ever done in my life.'"

Significance: This murder shows the hatred that is possessed by many people towards immigrants during this time.
