jun 28, 1969 - Stonewall Riots
Description:
When the police entered the bar to arrest the unlicensed employees for selling alcohol, cleared up the bar, and took several people into custody, the people started a riot and stood up against the police. They threw bottles, and debris at the police and even ended up putting the barricades on fire. The police came back with reinforcements, but this riot went on for about 5 days.
This was significant because this riot was the starting point of the LGBTQ fights against the social and political discrimination they were facing.
